Alterations to a garden in Chailey, East Sussex

In this garden, the clients wanted to move their principal leisure area from the part of the garden near the conservatory to the area by the tree wherein there is now a tree seat. An old dysfunctional pond was required to be filled in, the lawn extended, unwanted beds removed and the existing patio upgraded. They also wanted to be more secluded which is why the trellises were constructed.
A lot of soil was brought in from elsewhere in the garden; the remnants of the beds including as much root matter as possible were removed and replaced. The tree seat was made out of wood which they had on site already: the panels are actually old calf pens made out of incredibly hard and unworkable old hardwood. We designed and built the arches, gate and trellises ourselves.
