This is my own garden, completely redeveloped in 2006

My job started 'on the back' of my love of plants and being creative. In my work nowadays I spend most of my time finding and then working solutions to clients' individual garden requirements, mainly on the landscaping side. As a leisure activity I enjoy propagating and growing things. I spend a certain amount of time in nurseries, looking and learning and sometimes buying. I am enthusiastic about what are possibly the more unusual plants, i.e. not the sort of thing that I would necessarily find in other peoples' gardens. I cannot grow big shrubs and trees because I do not have a very big garden, but I like experimenting for 'impact'.
In each of my own gardens I have made a pond, mainly because I like the attraction this holds for nature and wildlife. My idea of a pond is a haven for small creatures, surrounded by and filled with plants. Unfortunately my dog regards the pond as a swimming pool which is a bit of a worry with a butyl liner.
Partly due to major building works in 2005/6, the garden which was here was completely destroyed, including most of its perimeter fences. As I have quite fixed ideas about what I want in my own garden, I decided to totally redevelop it, commencing with re-landscaping it and altering its layout followed by more detailed work.
There is nothing left of what was here before; I have changed everything including all of the plants. My garden is on a slope and when I bought it some attempt had been made to terrace this but not very effectively. I have ripped everything out and landscaped it into three distinct levels consisting of a top terrace, a middle pond and utility bit and a lower level which is currently a kitchen garden. Planting surrounds everything.
