Complete redesign of Front Garden
This work was carried out in the winter of 2002-3, several years after the work in the rear garden. Basically the owners were not happy with the bland appearance of the front garden and they asked me to come up with an idea for transforming it into something more interesting. I did, they liked it and this is what it now looks like.
All beds have fabric and mulch for low maintenance. Drainage has been installed at the bottom of the slopes. The stone is sandstone from Kent; some of the rocks are extremely heavy and had to be broken up for easier lifting. The paving is all 'crazy' York stone, so a lot of mixing and matching was required. The 'Buddha' feature was the idea of the owner; we wanted to find something to suit the distant end of the rather strange-shaped garden. I will probably take more photos when the hedge is in leaf.
