Garden & Planting Scheme Design
Restoration & Clearance work
Garden Structures and fences, trellis, etc.
This is the area of garden work which is difficult to summarise with pictures only, but many of the examples seen on other pages are the result of this work: design, planning, mapping as well as post-restoration projects.
We carry out skilled restoration and clearance of whole or part gardens, based on a lot of experience and knowledge of what the plants are, how they behave and therefore how they should best be controlled. Unfortunately it is difficult to show this in pictures.
While I do not normally carry out a chargeable design service, most work that we do has to be designed, in some way or other.
Initial consultation with the client is necessarily followed by working out what is required and how this might best be achieved. This involves digital photography, paper planning, computer-aided drawing, general research, phone calls, costings, estimating etc.
The latter are based on the former and I find it helpful to present a visual interpretation of the clients' requirements somewhere in between the two, so that we can iron out any discrepancies then, before the costing stage.
We do not do design just by itself but occasionally we carry out works for garden designers who do.
Designs cannot be 'written in stone' as they would for a house; it is very common for original designs and plans to be changed often quite markedly during the actual work. Many clients find it much easier to interpret what is going on when actually seeing the work, rather than looking at advance plans. We are very happy to carry out changes as required, as long as the clients understand that invoking changes probably means changing or raising costs.
We can make, adapt and repair garden structures if required for different situations. Here are some examples:
